22nd Birthday

Yesterday was my birthday. Yaaaaaaay. After the busy weekend I had, the boyfriend and I decided to have a quiet, relaxing day. We saw "The Hangover Part II," and had a delicious meal at Busboys & Poets. And to add to the list of "why my boyfriend is awesome," he got me Death Cab for Cutie tickets! Eek! I'm so excited to finally see my favorite band for the first time! I'm all smiles.

And hurray for 50 followers! I've only been blogging for a short time, but I'm truly loving the experience and will continue on! I truly appreciate all the support and interest you guys have in my blog. And I will start offering ad space and giveaways soon, promise.

New York, I Love You

(Urban Outfitters maxi dress, Steve Madden gladiator sandals)

For my birthday this year, Shawn and I decided we would do something different, so we went to New York! This was my first time actually spending more than a day in the city, and boy did we have a blast. Here's a very image heavy post of our mini-vacation.

Day 1: After a miserable air-condition-less bus ride, BoltBus was nice enough to give us a free ride, which was awesome. Overall, it was a cheap and easy solution to travel from D.C. to N.Y.

That night, we decided to see a Broadway show for the first time. After browsing a list of amazing shows, we decided on The Motherf**ker with the Hat with Chris Rock. Shawn and I are big fans of Chris Rock, so we were pretty giddy before the show, and it was well worth it. The show was absolutely hysterical!

Day 2: This is where our vegan food adventure really began. The first night, we opted for food that was close by to our hotel, The Paramount Hotel, which was half a block away from Times Square. But the next day, we braved our way through the New York subway system to Curly's Vegetarian Lunch for some amazing comfort food.

Here is one image from the Museum of Sex. I'll spare you from the rest, haha.

Okay, so I went a little shopping crazy during this trip. I mean, can you blame a girl when Forever 21 is open until 1 a.m.?! This outfit was purchased while I was in the city.

(Forever 21 blouse, printed shorts and jewelry, Steve Madden gladiator sandals, ZARA purse)

You would think New Yorkers would be used to seeing crazy looking people, but Shawn still got a lot of attention for his hair, haha.

That evening, Shawn and I decided to go for a fancy vegan fine dining at Candle 79. It was definitely a super romantic atmosphere (i.e. too dark to take any photos in). The food was absolutely delectable down to every last bite. And of course, I dressed up for the occasion.

(ZARA eyelet dress, Michael Kors watch, Jeffrey Campbell platform clogs)

FYI, lip stain is the best for eating food and kissing your man! That stuff does not come off!

After dinner, since Shawn and I are huge comedy fans, we went to Ha! Comedy Club for some laughs.

While we were snapping photos, some guys decided to join my impromptu photo shoot, haha.

This guy totally made our night. He was being honest, so we gave him some money, haha.

Day 3: We had to catch the bus at 6:30 p.m., so we dedicated this day to food again. Yes, we are totally food addicts. Pure Food and Wine was our first raw food restaurant experience. I was a little apprehensive about trying this place out since I've had a few strange experiences with raw food before. But this place turned out being my favorite dining experience of the whole trip! The food was light, fresh, flavorful and surprisingly filling.

After a brisk walk to digest a little, we popped into Red Bamboo for a snack. Best strawberry milkshakes ever!

I was pretty sad to leave the city. After spending only three days in New York, it already felt like home. But this trip wasn't only for leisure. I won't give you all the details just yet, but change is a'coming.

And tomorrow is my birthday! Eek! I'm so exhausted from the weekend. I think I'll nap.

Backyard Introductions

This week, my first strawberry appeared, and I couldn't be more giddier! Strawberries are my favorite fruit, and lately, I've been buying boxes of them for smoothies or just to munch on. My everbearing strawberry bush is really living up to its name. Berries are popping up everywhere! And the best part is that my first strawberry was super sweet!

Nom, nom, nom.

And introducing my baby girl Lulu! I don't know why I haven't included her in this blog yet, since she's with me 99 percent of the time, haha. So here are a couple of facts about her:

Nicknames: Doodoo, Tootie, Toot, Oodie, Lulu-bear

Age: 6 years old

Breed: Pomeranian

Likes: playing ball all day long, cuddling with her stuffed animals, napping

Dislikes: strawberries (sadly), bananas, bees, smoke detectors

I got Lulu for my 16th birthday, and she has brightened up my life ever since. She constantly keeps me laughing with her antics and knows when to comfort me when I'm stressed. I have far too many conversations than is normal with her, haha. I guess that's what happens when you're an only child -- you start talking to your pets. Anyway, her birthday was yesterday, so I thought I would properly introduce her today!

Happy Monday!

Graduation Day

What an exciting and exhausting day! Today, I graduated from the Philip Merrill College of Journalism at the University of Maryland. My four years of college seem like a dream now. One minute, you're a freshman trying to find your way to class, and the next minute, you're on the job hunt. Right now, I'm just looking forward to a much needed break. What I'm most excited about is NO MORE HOMEWORK! HAHA. But in all seriousness, I'm excited for the prospects ahead (which I will keep a secret for now, so I don't jinx it!).

This post is image heavy, so it make take a little time to load!

Boyfriend sure knows how to clean up nice doesn't he? FYI, this outfit was c/o me and from H&M!

(ZARA full-skirted dress)

I decided to go for simple and comfortable for graduation, especially since no one could see my dress at all! I bought this dress last winter, and I love how it goes with every climate. I can dress it up and down. It's definitely my classic little black dress.

YAY, I DID IT!
